White's Directory books on CD-ROM
White's Directories and gazetteers are by far the most comprehensive of all. They contain a history, gazetteer and directory of the county, including the major cities and dioceses, and a general survey of the county. They also contain separate historical, statistical, and topographical descriptions of all of the Wapentakes, Hundreds, Sokes, Boroughs, Towns, Ports, Parishes, Townships, Chapelries, Villages, Hamlets, Manors and Unions. They also list all of the Seats of the Nobility, Gentry, Magistrates, Members of County Councils, and Public Officers. In addition they also list the trades people for each place, complete with their address. These books are rare and difficult to find these days.
