The Record Interpreter: A Collection of abbreviations, Latin words and names used in English Historical Manuscripts and Records. Compiled by Charles Trice Martin, B.A., F.S.A., Assistant-keeper of the Public Records, printed by Reeves and Turner, London 1892. It contains the following all alphabetically arranged: Abbreviations of Latin words used in English records; Abbreviations of French words used in English records; Latin names of places in Great Britain and Ireland; Latin names of Bishoprics in England, Scotland and Ireland; Latin forms of English surnames; A few Latin Christian names with their English equivalents. An extremely useful reference book for anyone working with old English records.
